Q. Why have I been chosen to have my vehicle inspected?  Does this mean my insurance company doesn't trust me?

A. You have been chosen randomly.  Your name being selected has nothing to do with your insurance company not believing you.

Q.  Why does my insurance company carry out these inspections then?

A.  Fraud, as you know, is having a major impact on your insurance premiums.  There are some people who claim their car has been stolen or damaged only after they have taken out insurance.  This is costing you more and more every year.

Q. How will these inspections help to combat fraud?

A.  Your insurance company believe that those intent on fraudulent behaviour will not chose them to insure their vehicle if there is a chance they will be selected to have it inspected.  This will reduce the fraud bill for your company and therefore they will be able to insure you at the correct level.

Q.  Do I have to have the inspection carried out?

A.  Yes you do.  Only by agreeing can your insurance company combat fraudulent behaviour in others.

Q.  What's in it for me?

A.  Once your car has been inspected your insurance company can correctly cover it at the right premium level.  It will also mean that should you make a claim in the future your insurance company will have all the correct information to process your claim quickly and easily.

Q.  What do I have to do?

A.  You will be contacted by someone from the motorcheck™ team who will arrange an inspection at your earliest convenience.  An inspector will come to you and check your vehicle.  He will also ask for various documents – which you have to produce.  He will check them as well and using our technology he will send the information directly to your insurance company.

Q.  What will I need to produce?

A.   You will need to have available the keys to the vehicle, your vehicle registration document and, for each named driver on the policy, both parts of your driving licence (plastic photo card and paper "counterpart") and a valid MOT certificate.

Q.  Who else gets to see this information?

A.  No one else is permitted to see this information.

Q. Will I get a record of this inspection?

A.  Yes.  Your inspector will leave you with a motorcheck™ check-card for you to keep for your records.

Q. What if I disagree with his findings?

A. When the inspection is complete, our inspector will immediately show you the results and ask you to sign to verify their accuracy. You can add comments or disagree with the inspection if you think it is unfair or inaccurate in any way.

Q.  Do I have the right of complaint?

A.  Yes you do.  We at motorcheck™ demand of our inspectors that they are courteous, polite and efficient.  If your inspector has in any way upset you we want to know about it and will deal with any alleged misconduct quickly.

Q.  What if I have arranged an inspection and need to change the time or place?

A. If you have arranged an inspection appointment and need to change it, please contact our customer service on 0800 781 9103. For any other enquiry please telephone 020 8334 9610.

Q.  Am I insured before the inspection is carried out?

A.  Yes you are.  Think of this like having to provide your proof of no claims bonus.  You will be instantly insured at taking out your policy.

Q.  How long will the inspection take?

A. The inspection only takes a few minutes and is conducted by one of our inspectors by appointment at your home or place of work.  You are encouraged to attend while the inspection is being carried out

Q.  What happens after the inspection?

A.  Your insurance company will contact you and advise you of any premium change.  You will then be properly insured for any future claims you may have to make.

  COMMENT

"I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the inspection on my car was!  The inspector was polite and friendly and gave me the chance to see the report before it was sent."
